Musical

It is a genre in which songs by the characters are interwoven into the narrative, sometimes accompanied by dancing. The songs usually advance the plot or develop the characters.

Two teenage gangs struggle for control on the Upper West Side in New York City in the 1950s. The Jets, a white gang led by Riff, brawl with the Sharks, a group of Puerto Ricans led by Bernardo. The film is about a Vietnam War draftee who meets and befriends a "tribe" of hippies on his way to the army induction center.
